BUFFALO, NY – Dennis C. Vacco, former New York State Attorney General and a partner at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, recently participated in a forum on assisted suicide. The event took place at St. Gregory the Great Parish (200 St Gregory Ct, Williamsville) on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 7 p.m.
Mr. Vacco was joined by others who provided their perspectives and insights on the issue, including Diocese of Buffalo Bishop Richard J. Malone, as well as Kathy Gallagher, director of Pro-Life Activities and the Catholic Action Network for the New York State Catholic Conference.
In 1997, while serving as New York State Attorney General, Mr. Vacco successfully argued in Vacco v. Quill that physician assisted suicide was not a constitutionally protected right. Since then, he has participated in numerous panel discussions and programs about issues regarding aid in dying. The New York State Legislature considered assisted suicide legislation during the 2016 session.
At Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, Mr. Vacco concentrates his practice on governmental investigations, working with clients to ensure compliance with the complex and ever-changing rules of the state and federal governments, as well as clients who have been targeted for investigation by the government.
Mr. Vacco received his J.D. from SUNY Buffalo Law School and his undergraduate degree from Colgate University.
